Brown, Algebra 1, Quarter 1, Week 6

Note:  I’m planning on taking this week to reteach much of the material from previous chapters, especially solving linear equations.  I plan on using Algebra tiles for these reteaching lessons.  It is a different method from when I taught it the first time through.  I’m hoping that this method may help students who may not have understood earlier to understand it now.  Advanced students who have already shown mastery may be given alternative assignments.

Monday, 9/19:  Using algebra tiles to add/subtract integers and to combine like terms.  Review lesson, small group stations

Tuesday, 9/20:  Using algebra tiles to solve two-step equations.  Review lesson, small group stations

Wednesday, 9/21 (Early dismissal):  Algebra tiles practice.

Thursday, 9/22:  Using algebra tiles to solve multi-step equations.  Review lesson, small group stations

Friday, 9/23 (Last day of 6 weeks):  Test Boost.  This will be an opportunity to show advancement in solving skills.  I’ll use this as an opportunity to add points to a previous test grade.  It is a great opportunity to get a test grade up before the grade check.
