Meet The Teacher

My first blog post for the 2025-2026 school year is to say a big “Thank you” to all the parents and students who joined me for meet the teacher tonight.  It was a huge success.

The three main topics of discussion tonight were:

  1.  Email is the best form of contact:  [email protected]
  2. This blog is where I will post plans for the week, updated as needed.  brownj.wonecks.net. Please subscribe to his blog for updated notifications.
  3.  Bluebonnet!!  The new curriculum.  I tried to explain how this is a non-traditional curriculum that doesn’t follow the standard “lesson-practice-homework-quiz-test” model.  Rather it is based on real world situations and involve questioning, analyzing, compare/contrast, etc. to discover the mathematical principals being taught.  We especially discussed the idea of “productive struggle”.  We will all struggle, but eventually, we’ll get there.

I am very much looking forward to this school year.  Go Roughnecks!!
